Writing is my passion. I love to write because it is an opportunity to tell the stories of my life. God has done so much with me, it would be crazy for me not to share it.

Here are some projects I have worked on over time. They range from a couple of months to my whole life. The journey is a fun one and the Lord has filled my life with lots of colorful people. I have captured many of them in the stories below. My work is divided into two sections: Christian devotional and novels.

 

Destiny’s Dilemma

An African American woman moved home to take care of her dying mother giving up the opportunity to experience a world beyond segregation. Zoraida Hughes Williams finds that some things have changed about her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas while some have stayed the same, like Hell’s Half Acre, an area where saloons, prostitution and gambling runs wild. Like most of the residents, she wants to keep her head down and stay away from trouble, but it comes in the unlikely form of an Anglo Baptist preacher. He messes up everything and almost gets them killed.

Connections

All Sandy wanted to do was make a living. She was a private investigator taking care of her 12-year-old daughter living in the hood with her biological mother, who loved to gamble. She would find missing relatives, spy on cheating spouses and occasionally catch a bail jumper. She knew that private investigation work would put her in some tricky situations, but she never imagined bad guys would chase her. That stuff only happened in movies.
Sandy gets mixed up with her foster sister, Kayna; an attorney, Michael Singh and his questionable clients, which lead to murder, being on the run from law enforcement and the separation from her child, who she promised she would never leave.
A young woman walked in the law office and asked for help in locating her brother. A few days later another woman came in and asked for help locating the same man. Sandy and Kayna are intrigued, while the attorney felt that something was wrong with it. Michael sent Sandy and Kayna to investigate the clients, while he checked on the missing person through his channels.
The investigation changed when some men with guns began to chase Sandy, Kayna and Michael. Michael’s house, in a posh Fort Worth neighborhood, was blown up and the dead body of a girl was found in the remains. Framed with the murder, the team went underground and set out to solve who was framing them and why.
Complicating the matter for Sandy was the attraction brewing from Michael, her only paying client. But her heart was breaking each day she spent away from her child, reminding her of her own abandonment as a child. Also coming home to roost were the demons her foster sister, Kayna was dealing with as they tried to solve the case.

Dancing During the Storm

Dancing During the Storm is a collection of stories I have written over the years. They represent a desire to praise God despite the storms in my life. As the saying goes, you are going into a storm, in the middle of a storm or coming out of a storm. All of these stories tell of people who enjoy the life that God has given them and live it to the fullest. Each character has a storm in their life which they are going into, in the midst of, or coming out of.
His Favorite One is a short story about the first man who ever lived. At first, he is not mentioned by name, but it is obvious. This story is not the Bible. It is just an idea of what life might have been like for Adam in my imagination. He was the only person alive with no other human companion. He knew what it was like to commune with God in perfect peace. This story also speaks to the sacrifice that is required when we step out of God’s will for our lives.

Privateers

A single young woman is tricked by modern-day pirates losing everything she owned. As she tries to figure out what happened to her belongings, her world crashes around her as government and private agencies treat her as a suspect. Determined to find the man who did this to her, she stumbles onto a government top secret. Finding this modern day pirate turns into a race against lethal forces.
